
Summary:
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Prospecting & Lead Generation
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territory.
- Conduct research on potential clients and industry trends.
- Cold call, email, and network to generate qualified leads.
- Account Management
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and service needs.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
- Sales & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve territory goals.
- Negotiate pricing, service agreements, and contracts in alignment with company policies.
- Prepare and deliver tailored presentations to prospective customers.
- Collaboration with Operations
- Work closely with dispatch, operations, and customer service teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Provide feedback to operations about customer requirements and service challenges.
- Market Development
- Recommend new service opportunities or solutions to meet customer needs.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, or networking functions.
- Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities.
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and territory reports to management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Customer-Centric Focus
- Deliver value-added solutions that improve customer supply chain efficiency.
- Follow up consistently to strengthen long-term partnerships.
Job Requirements Include:
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field preferred (not always required) OR 10 years’ experience.
- 2+ years of proven sales experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or supply chain solutions.
- Experience with account management and territory development is highly valued.
- Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics services.
- Knowledge of supply chain processes, modes of transport (truckload, LTL, intermodal, ocean, air), and industry terminology.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills (verbal & written).
- Proficiency with TMS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales tools.

- Self-motivated and able to work independently while managing a territory.
- Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
